Noxious Weeds
The following is an excerpt of section 10.03 of the Village of Oregon Code of Ordinance.
Section 10 Public Nuisance, .03 Public Nuisances Affecting Health, (6) Noxious Weeds, (a) Weeds and Grasses, does read as follows:
(a.) Weeds and Grasses. All noxious weeds and other rank growth of vegetation. All weeds and grass shall be kept cut to a height not to exceed one (1) foot. The Village may cause all weeds and grass not conforming to be cut and removed and brush to be removed and the cost thereof charged to the property under section 66.0627, Wis. Stats.
Burning
The following is an excerpt of section 9.14 of the Village of Oregon Code of Ordinance.
Section 9 Peace and Good Order, .14 Outdoor Burning Restrictions, does read as follows:
(1) PROHIBITED EXCEPT AS SET FORTH IN (2) No person, firm or corporation shall build any outdoor fire within the corporate limits of the Village of Oregon.
(2) EXCEPTIONS. Outdoor burning is permitted in the following circumstances:
(a) Under the direct control and supervision of the Oregon Fire Department;
(b) For the purpose of cooking food on a grill, barbecue, or other device
specifically designed for outdoor cooking;

(c) Ceremonial, camp or bonfires, with prior written approval of the
Fire Chief.
(d) In accordance with a burning permit issued under (3)
(3) BURNING PERMITS. Any person or persons desiring to burn brush, attached grass, fields (for environmental management purposes) shall apply to the Fire Department for a permit for such burning. Any person obtaining a permit to burn shall follow the instructions and directions prescribed by said Fire Department and shall permit the Fire Chief or his appointee to come upon the property in order to exercise the enforcement function. Permits for such burning shall be obtained on the day of the burning. Permits will be issued and are subject to cancellation by the Oregon Fire Chief or his appointee. Burning with permits will be allowed only on the first and third weekends of the month during daylight hours.
(4) FIRE CHIEF OR POLICE DEPARTMENT MAY PROHIBIT. The Fire Chief or Police Department is permitted to prohibit all outdoor fires and burning when atmospheric conditions or local circumstances make such fires hazardous.
(5) BURNING ON STREETS. No material may be burned upon any street, curb, gutter or sidewalk.
(6) LIABILITY. Persons utilizing and maintain outdoor fires shall be liable for any loss or damage caused by such fires.
(7) CITATIONS. The Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chiefs, upon observing violation of this section, may issue a citation to the Municipal Court as provided in CH. 800 Wis. Stats. and Section 1.17 (3) of this Municipal Code.

Winter Weather Related Items of Interest
SNOW EMERGENCY DECLARATION
• A snow emergency may be declared by the Chief of Police in the event of an anticipated or actual snow accumulation of 3 inches or more.
• When a snow emergency has been declared, no vehicle of any kind may be parked on any village street or roadway. Vehicle left on the roadway are subject to being towed at the owner's expense.
• When
a snow emergency has been declared, the police department will disseminate
this information by means of local media outlets including
radio and television. In the event of a significant snowfall, village
residents should be diligent in listening for this type of information.
Alternate Side Parking
The following is an excerpt of Section 7.02 of the Village of Oregon Code of Ordinance.
Section 7 Traffic Code, .02 Parking Restrictions, (2) Alternate All Night Parking does read as follows:
(a.) Parking between midnight and 6:00 a.m. from November 15 to April 1 shall be permitted on the even numbered side of any street on even numbered days and on the odd numbered side of the street on any odd numbered days, except only as hereinafter provided. Violator's vehicles may be towed away at the direction of a Village Police Officer.
(b.) Parking motor trucks having a licensed gross weight of 8,000 lbs. or more, truck tractors, road tractors, trailers and semi trailers shall be permitted during hours in par. (a) on the following streets when authorized by permit issued by the officer in charge of the Police Department, subject to the rules and regulations of such permit. This permit shall expire on April 1 of each year.
1. Market St., on the west side only, from the north line of 797 N.
Market St., north to Braun Rd.
2. Braun Rd., on the north side only, from its intersection with N. Market
St. to its intersection with N. Main St.
(c.) Parking between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. from November 15th to April 1st shall not be permitted on Main Street from its intersection with Grove Street southerly to its intersection with Elm Street, and on Janesville Street from its intersection with S. Main Street easterly approximately 101 feet.
(d.) Waterman Court, no parking between November 15 and April 1.

Snow and Ice Removal
The following is an excerpt of Section 8.07 of the Village of Oregon Code of Ordinance.
Section 8 Public Works, .07 Snow and Ice Removal does read as follows:
(1) SIDEWALKS TO BE KEPT CLEAR. The owner or occupant of any lot or parcel shall promptly each day remove all snow and ice which may have fallen or accumulated upon the sidewalk in front of such lot or parcel; provided when ice has so formed that it cannot be removed, the owner or occupant shall keep the same sprinkled with a material which will prevent the sidewalk from being dangerous to pedestrians. If the owner or occupant fails to comply with this subsection, the Street Superintendent shall cause the snow and ice to be removed or sprinkled as required in this section and the cost thereof assessed against the property as a special tax.
(2) SNOW NOT TO BE DEPOSITED IN STREETS. Except in an area having an insufficient berm for that purpose, such as the business district, no person shall cause to be deposited snow from his premises or the sidewalk abutting thereon onto any street in the Village without a permit from the Street Superintendent, who may require to be paid a fee sufficient to reimburse the Village for the cost of removal of such snow.
